The 47th Jerusalem Day celebrations will be marked this year by a variety
of events and performances, with a special emphasis on celebrating
Jerusalem Day in the city’s neighborhoods. Celebrations include
performances by musicians, events for families, tours, workshops,
exhibitions, movie screenings under the open skies and more.

The central event will be held at the Armon HaNatziv Promenade, and will
include a performance by Harel Ska’at.

Students' Day – White Night: Performances by Israel's best singers at
Sacher Park including Carolina; Shalom Hanoch; Shlomi Shabat; HaDag
Nachash; Beri Sakharoff.
White Night in the City Center and a sunrise performance by the Balkan
Beat Box at Safra Square

Yakir Yerushalayim ceremony: A reception hosted by the Mayor and his wife
at the Tower of David

Dramatized tours at the Municipality Square

Jerusalem’s Mayor Nir Barkat invites all of Jerusalem’s residents,
visitors and those who love Jerusalem to celebrate and enjoy the large
selection of events.

City Center Community Administration Courtyard – 8:00 PM
A festive evening full of humor featuring Jerusalem’s best stories told by
Jackie Levy and songs sung by Noam Ya’akobson.

Tuesday, May 27, 2014
Armon HaNatziv Promenade – starting at 5:30 PM
Guided tours of the neighborhood, family activities, youth orchestra and
dance troupes
At 8:00 PM – a performance by singer Harel Ska’at
Fireworks at 8:45 PM

Givat Mordechai – Ross House, Yeshivat Noa – 8:00 PM
Prayer, celebration and a performance of Jerusalem stories by the “Nekuda
Tova” Theater group.

Kiryat Menachem – between 4:30 PM and 7:30 PM
Festivities in the neighborhood with local children—"Our Jerusalem Day."
Tours, musical performances, workshops, exhibitions, sport tournaments,
activities and a picnic in the park.

Har Homa – between 7:15 PM and 11:00 PM
Festive Prayer – at the Amital School (18 Eliyahu Koren Street)
A parade and flag dances from the school to the community center.
At the Homat Shmuel School, next to the community center – presenting
awards for volunteers and a performance by the singer Shai Gabso

Ramot Alon – at 9:00 PM (Gan Dalia, Truman Street)
‘The Closet People,’ a tribute to Kaveret

Ginot Ha’ir – First Station Complex – at 8:00 PM
The “Nigon Hagigi” festive performance with the ‘Alma’ Group
“City Engulfed in Light” – Kehilat Zion singing and praying with poets and
representatives of the various religions.

Morasha – Community Administration building and the “Ma’ala” school – at

Tours in the footsteps of important people and tours on the border line,
stands selling Jerusalem artwork, movie screenings under the open skies

Katamon Chet and Tet- – at the Kangaroo Center – at 8:00 PM
Creative workshops and multimedia workshops, “The Neighborhood Race”
competition and flag dances

The Jewish Quarter, Old City – at 8:00 PM
A festive event for residents and former residents of the quarter

Baka – Community Administration’s Courtyard – at 8:00 PM
Organized dancing, drummer’s circle, street theater with nostalgic
characters form Jerusalem’s history, and releasing wish balloons.

Jerusalem Day Eve: Tuesday, May 27, 2014

White Night – Students; Day
Performance at Sacher Park; White Night in the City Center and a sunrise
performance at Safra Square

Students' Day will be celebrated on the eve of Jerusalem Day this year.
The festivities will start at Sacher Park with performances by the artists
including – Central Stage:
Carolina Shalom Hanoch, Shlomi Shabat, HaDag Nachash, Beri Sakharoff, Bint
el Punk, The Collective, Geva Alon, Uzi Ramirez, Marina Maximillian, and
DJ Darwish.
The White Night events will continue at the City Center: street parties,
food and drink stands, and cool attractions!
A sunrise performance by the Balkan Beat Box will take place at Safra
Square and the Breakfast Club.
The event is produced by the Young People's Authority at the Municipality
of Jerusalem together with the Student Association.

“Let’s Ascend to Jerusalem” - A National Youth Convention Commemorating 47
years to the Unification of Jerusalem
10:00 AM-8:00-PM

The National Youth Convention commemorating 47 years to the unification of
Jerusalem will emphasize trail blazing leadership. The Convention will
include several events which will be held throughout the city, in
Nachlaot, Armon HaNatziv, Ammunition Hill, Mount Scopus and Gay Ben Hinom
Valley.

Fifteen-thousand teenagers from all over the country will take part in the
convention, and will visit various sites throughout the city, ending the
day at a youth rally at the Sultan’s Pool at 6:30 PM.
At 3:00 PM – Shelach Salutes the Fallen – a ceremony at the Western Wall
with the participation of 4,000 teenagers. The program includes poetry
readings, Psalm readings, videos and HaTikva.

Program timeline:
10:00 AM -Arrival to Jerusalem.
10:00 AM – 4:00 PM - Tours and visits throughout the city.
6:30 PM - 8:00 PM – Central rally at the Sultan's Pool with Mayor of
Jerusalem, Nir Barkat; Minister of Education, Shai Piron; CEO of the
Ministry of Education, Michal Cohen; Head of the Youth and Society
Administration, Erez Eshel; Head of Shelach and the Land of Israel Studies
Division, Eli Shayish; and 7,000 teenagers.

Yakir Yerushalayim Ceremony at the Tower of David- 8:00 PM
Attended by Mayor Nir Barkat.
The Yakir Award will be given to 12 Jerusalem residents this year. The
award is given to people who have contributed to and influenced the lives
of all city residents.
The event is by invitation only.

Central Holiday Rally for the Eve of Jerusalem Day at Merkaz HaRav
Yeshiva- 8:00 PM
A large central rally commemorating Jerusalem Day at Merkaz HaRav with the
Lehava orchestra and singer Mendi Jaruffi.
Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, and Mayor Nir Barkat, will be present
at the event, together with other public figures and a huge audience. At
the end of the central rally at Merkaz HaRav, the Yeshiva students will
start their traditional march through Jerusalem to the Western Wall.

Ammunition Hill – 7:30 PM
Singing songs of love for Jerusalem, and songs written by those who love
Jerusalem, together at the site’s new amphitheater, hosted by Tzlil Biran
with the participation of Ruchama Raz and Aharom Perrera
Price: NIS 40. Light refreshments will be served.

Jerusalem Day, Wednesday, May 28, 2014
Reception hosted by the Mayor and Mrs. Barkat at the Tower of David Museum
– 10:00 AM – 11:30 AM
The Mayor of Jerusalem and Mrs. Barkat are honored to invite the residents
of Jerusalem and visitors to the traditional Jerusalem Day reception,
which will take place on Wednesday, May 8, 2014, between 10:00 and 11:30
AM, at the Tower of David Museum, the Museum for the history of Jerusalem.
The museum is open to the public.
The public is invited.

Dramatized tours of the Municipality Campus – Free of charge
10:00 AM, 12:00 PM, 2:00 PM
The Quality of Service Authority at the Municipality of Jerusalem is
honored to invite the public to dramatized guided tours of the
Municipality of Jerusalem on Jerusalem Day, May 28, 2014.
The tours will depart at: 10:00 AM, 12:00 PM, 2:00 PM.
We will meet at the entrance to the square near the “Meeting point for
tours of the municipality campus” sign.
The tours are free of charge.

Memorial service for the Ethiopian community on Mount Herzl – 11:00 AM
A national memorial service in memory of Ethiopian Jews.

National Memorial service at Mount Herzl – 2:00 PM
A national ceremony for Jerusalem Day – a national memorial service for
those who were killed during the Six Day War.

Memorial services for combat soldiers at the following monuments:
3:30 PM – Rockefeller Museum.
4:30 PM – Sheikh Jarrah, Ammunition Hill, the American Consulate, Lion’s Gate

National memorial service at Ammunition Hill- 7:00 PM
National memorial service commemorating 47 years to the liberation and
unification of Jerusalem, with the President of Israel, the Prime
Minister, Ministers, the Mayor of Jerusalem, the Chief of Staff and the
Police Commissioner, together with the bereaved families.
By invitation only.

“Flag Dance” Parade - Prayer and rally 4:00 PM – 11:00 PM
The parade takes place on Jerusalem Day starting from 4:00 PM every year.
The parade is accompanied by dancing, singing, and waving of the flags of
Israel and is produced by the “Am K'Lavi” Society. Tens of thousands of
people, who come from Israel and around the world, attend the parade
annually.
The flag dance parade ends in a festive ceremony, which includes a rally
and a communal prayer, at the Western Wall
